Muhurta collects only the data necessary to provide personalized Vedic astrological calculations:
Birth profile — date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth. Used to calculate your natal chart, Vimshottari Dasha timeline, and all personalized astrological data.
Current location — device GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude). Used to calculate daily Panchanga, Planetary Hours, and sunrise/sunset times for your location. Location is requested only while the app is in use and is never accessed in the background.
Email address — used for account authentication via magic link. Never used for marketing without consent.
Calendar events — if you connect your Apple Calendar or Google Calendar, we store the event title, start time, and end time only. No descriptions, attendees, or other details are stored. Calendar access is optional and can be revoked at any time in device Settings.
How We Use Your Data
To compute and display personalized Vedic astrological information (Panchanga, Hora, Tara Chakra, composite score)
To identify optimal timing windows (Muhurta) based on your current location and natal chart
To send morning briefings and event notifications, if you enable them in Settings
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising purposes.
How We Share Your Data
We share your data only with the service providers necessary to operate the app. We do not sell or rent your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising purposes.
Supabase — our database and authentication provider, used to securely store your account data, birth profile, and calendar event metadata.
Anthropic (Claude API) — our AI provider, used to generate personalized text insights. We send only astrological data derived from your birth profile and daily Panchanga values. We never send your Google user data, calendar events, email address, or precise location to the AI provider. Anthropic does not train its models on data submitted through its API.
Apple and Google Calendar — accessed only to read your event title, start time, and end time. No data is transferred back to these providers; access is read-only and optional.
Google user data. Data obtained through Google Calendar (event title, start time, end time) is used solely to display optimal timing windows within the app. It is never sold, never shared with third parties for advertising, and never sent to our AI provider. It is stored only in Supabase and can be deleted at any time by revoking calendar access or deleting your account.
Data Storage & Protection
Your data is stored in Supabase (supabase.co), hosted on AWS cloud infrastructure located in the United States. We apply the following protections:
Encryption in transit — all data is transmitted over TLS-encrypted connections.
Encryption at rest — all stored data, including your birth profile and location, is encrypted at rest.
Access control — Row-Level Security (RLS) policies ensure each user can access only their own data. Records are isolated per authenticated account.
Sensitive data handling — sensitive data (date, time, and place of birth; GPS location) is used only for astrological calculations, is never shared for advertising, and is accessible only to your authenticated account and the service providers listed above.
Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your entire account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at the address below. Deletion requests are processed within 30 days.
Children's Privacy
Muhurta is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us using the information below.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the email address associated with your account at least 7 days before the changes take effect.
